Your best friend's wedding is too important to leave to chance.

Imagine standing before their friends and loved ones (perhaps they're yours too), as your carefully written notes suddenly feel woefully inadequate.

That flutter of uncertainty in your voice. The missed moments, the awkward pauses.

You're brilliant and capable - and this moment deserves more than Google searches.

I get it – you're the friend who always figures things out. But this isn't just another project to master. It's a profound moment of transition for your friends—a story that deserves to be told with artistry and grace.

Your friends chose you because they trust your voice, your spirit, and your understanding of their love.

Now imagine the version where you nail it.

The bride's mom finds you at the reception and grabs both your hands. The groom's brother says it was the best ceremony he's ever been to and asks if you'll do his next year. You can hear your own voice on the video later and not cringe, and instead feel proud, knowing you stand by every word. Your friends introduce you proudly as their incredible officiant for years to come.

“I didn't realize now how much time a could have saved….”

While I’m creative, think on my feet, and am comfortable with public speaking, the amount of details an officiant has to keep in mind leading up to the wedding day, as well as the things I only thought of on the day of the ceremony—all detracted from my ability to be fully engaged on my friend’s big day. Seeing all that More Than Words offers, from the Efficient Officiant Roadmap to templates and scripting preparation—I realize now how much time I could have saved in making the ceremony all that I had hoped, instead of learning as I went. I’ll be much better prepared for my next officiating opportunity!

MEET Your
INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I'm Katie

I'm a writer, editor, program manager and officiant. I built this course because the first time I officiated, I spent way too many hours reinventing the wheel instead of saving my energy for where it mattered most.

I believe great writing happens off the page — when you're sitting with a feeling, reflecting on a moment, or asking yourself what actually matters about these two people. My whole method is built around identifying the themes that run through a couple's life and weaving them into a script that sounds like them, not like the internet's idea of a wedding.

If you're going to stand up in front of everyone they love and speak about their love story, you deserve real guidance.

"I am forever grateful for Katie and the fantastic service Something Borrowed provides – it made me the officiant I always aspired to be."

— Maraya K.
