I'm Katie, the creator behind Something Borrowed Ceremonies. I'm an Oregon-based program manager, writer, and officiant on a mission to ensure that great storytelling is at the heart of every wedding ceremony.
Lately, I've been focused on creating resources for first-time, friend-and-family officiants. I think everyone should have the tools they need to write and deliver an amazing wedding ceremony with confidence. And to enjoy the process!
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”
— Philip pullman
I work alongside couples and officiants to craft ceremonies that are seamlessly unique — brimming with genuine affection, expertly told stories, and moments of joyfulness and laughter. My mission is to ensure that the words shared in ceremony are as memorable as the details and artistry that go into the rest of the wedding. Whether you're eloping or getting married in front of 300 people, the words shared on your wedding day should serve as an anchor throughout marriage. I'm here to help make that happen.
I started Something Borrowed Ceremonies after I was asked to officiate several of my best friends weddings in 2021. Through officiating my friends' weddings, I learned that I love writing about love and capturing the ineffable elements of someone's relationship via the written word.
I believe that everyone should be able to have the wedding ceremony of their dreams–something that feels authentic, heartfelt, and captures the couple’s spirit.
“Katie's materials are incredibly thorough, heartfelt, and inspiring. They made all the difference in helping me deliver a beautiful and memorable ceremony. I am forever grateful for Katie and the fantastic service Something Borrowed provides – it made me the officiant I always aspired to be..”
